A secret topic is where the sides agree to debate, but don't know the topic in advance. The site picks a random topic from that list when all sides have accepted / the debate starts (unless you choose to debate only topics in a particular category, in which case the list is different). The point is to emulate real-life limited preparation debating, and also to test general debate skill as opposed to being one of those people who can only debate one topic or something.
