Anyone else watching it?
I think it's really fun. Also I just really like Carlsen's playing style. And he has extremely cool suits that he always seems to wear.

I really did. The nail-biter was when Anand had a forced checkmate on Carlsen and blew it. Wow. What a match.

No need for sarcasm. Not like you've ever seen a more exciting chess match after all. Or have you?

I maintain that checkers is a harder game than chess.
Mostly for the fact that in chess, if you stuff a move up you can take it back. In checkers once you're commited to a movement you have to see it through. It is less forgiving of stupid moves which makes it harder.

Lol, really?

Pinkie:
lol, yup!
With two good chess players, you really can't see who is winning until deep into the game. Because you are able to fake and feint, a "losing position" ce actually be a winning one.
In checkers, when two good people are playing, the whole game is usually decided in the first 10 or so moves. This is why in competition draughts they often randomly draw the first three moves for each side.
Checkers has a whole lot more pressure in it, which makes it harder.
Chess has more variables which I guess is why people may think it's harder, but in fact having more variables gives the players more options, thus making it easier. Checkers is more pure.
It's like the 100m sprints vs the 100m hurdles.
100m Sprint has only one variable, thus it is a harder competition.
100m Sprint has two variables. You could legitimately argue that this makes it harder to DO, but it's easier to WIN because there are two things to do and you don't have to be the best at both or either of them in order to beat your opponent.

You can't take a move back in chess! If I move my queen where you can take it, no amount of "please I didn't mean to!" will make you let me take the move back.
Sometimes the position is right that it lets you undo a move but you always lose the initiative in so doing. In expert games that could mean the loss of the entire match.
Chess is also unforgiving of stupid moves. Anand had a forced checkmate going on in one of his games and he blew it with the world's most insignificant-looking-at-the-time move, allowing Carlsen to force a checkmate a couple of moves later.
Not to say that checkers is easy, I just don't accept that criticism.

When I said, "undo a move" I was more referring to the practice of "feeling out" an opponent's defence, making a couple of cheeky probes with a knight or something like that. You can afford to look like you're going to attack the left when really you're going to switch at the last minute and attack the middle.
Same goes for defence. You can move some pieces out of the defensive line safe in the knowledge that they can fall back if needed.
Checkers doesn't give you those luxuries. You need to accurately predict the number of pieces needed for an attack and your timing needs to be spot on as to when to pull your defensive pieces off because you only get one shot.
Just saying.

Yeah but a good opponent will use that knight maneuver to develop his pieces which will leave you heavily disadvantaged in the middle game.
You're right that chess is less closed than checkers but it's simply wrong to imply you can make a move in chess without game-changing consequences. Unless it's a 3-move-repetition draw or something like that.

I think we understand eachother. You're right, I'm saying that checkers is more closed than chess.
Because of the fact that you HAVE to jump given the chance, you don't even get the choice of risking being heavily disadvantaged in the mddle game. You make that probe and you will either succeed or fail.
In my opinion that makes it a harder game to win, although I totally concede that Chess have more variables making it a harder game to play.
My point falls down in the end-game assuming you both have kings. With good players that is rarely the case, usually whoever gets kings out and into play first, wins.
