What words are acceptable to use on Edeb8?
< Return to subforum
@Admin
has to regulate the language used on the site if he wants the host to not shut it down, but there are certain exceptions where he hasn't said anything to a profanity. It would be helpful if
@admin
gave some final clarification on the matter. My guesses are that words things like shit, bastard, and damn are okay to say, but stronger words such as f*ck, b*tch, and c*nt are not acceptable.

I did not put an @ symbol in front of the first "admin." New feature?

Depends a bit on text honestly. If I feel like a post is likely to be interpreted a vulgar or obscene, that wouldn't be ok. The contract actually bans "profane" language but hey, religious discussions are cool.
I don't really want to provide a list of "banned" words because people would just abuse that. One might as well have a content filter if that's the path we want to go down.
That being said, I can't currently think of a context where the "stronger" words Stag mentioned would be ok. The non-stronger words might be ok in appropriate contexts.

Unintended positive bug? Lol, bugs are like evolution, most mutations are negative and get removed, while a few are positive and get naturally selected.

So you actually like the idea of not having to put an @? Let me see if it works again.

You wrote "admin," not "admin"
If you use an at-tag you have to be supercareful of commas

@Stag
- you think this is worth me fixing? I think I can see the bug, just don't think it's harmful right now...

It seems completely harmless. What if somebody's @ key gets jammed? Would this not be a future solution?
