New Zealand and other countries have the privelege of learning from the mistakes of the larger powers like the UK, USA, and Russia.

I think what nzlockie was trying to say was that had our culture developed differently, we would have both a higher crime rate and higher gun numbers. The situation is only far because of the choices our country has made.
