There are Catholics who literally say "I'm not Christian, I'm Catholic". Catholicism differs greatly from Christianity. Christians view the Bible as supreme authority (2 Timothy 2:15; 2 Timothy 3:16-17). Catholics view the Bible and man-made church tradition as being equal, which is a big heresy according to the Bible (Mark 7:8; Mark 7:13). The Bible says we should pray to God only (Mathew 7:7-8; 1 John 5:14-15; Philippians 4:6). Catholics believe they pray to saints and Mary and worship her. The Bible teaches no such nonsense. Christians believe that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ alone was sufficient for salvation (Romans 5:1; Romans 5:9; John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 1:2). Catholics believe that salvation must be maintained by good deeds and sacrificing sacraments. A lot of the things that Catholics believe are huge heresies according to the Bible.

I'm starting to think the word "christian" is nowadays too vague to be meaningful.

If Catholics trust in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as sufficient for salvation, then why do they say they have to do the sacraments to keep salvation? If sacraments and baptismal regeneration are necessary to keep salvation, then obviously Jesus Christ's death wasn't enough, which the Bible says it is.

Don't they read the bible?
I'm not sure if they read it. But they sure don't believe it. Where does it say in the Bible to worship Mary? Or keep the "seven sacraments"? Or pray to saints? I'm not sure where they get these ideas, but they don't come from the Bible.

Its like saying Stalinist Russia was not Communism and that Stalin wasn't a real Communist. An attempt by many Communists today to say Communism wasn't responsible for the mass murder of tens of millions.

Interpreting? The Bible is so clear on these subjects, that there's no room for interpretation. What Catholics believe simply isn't in the Bible. It's just not there.

How is the Bible racist? Can you please explain how it is racist when the Bible says that we are all "one blood" (Acts 17:26)? How is it racist when the Bible says that every human being descended from one couple - Adam and Eve (Genesis 1)? In fact, the Bible never uses the word "race" in reference to people. Perhaps you would like to explain how that is racist.

To set the record straight, what you are stating is not Vatican canon.

This isn't just Roman Catholics either. Protestant churchs and many branches of the Orthodoxy also believe good deeds are required for salvation. Also Christ dying WASN'T enough for salvation. You have to absolve yourself of sin by declaring God to enter heaven.
