Take every swear word in the English language and give them regular, casual meanings. Then it'd be totally pointless to swear because you'd just be saying a bunch of random stuff that nobody recognised as profanity.
Done.

Dassault Papillon: Another way would be to use swear words more often, so they become less disapproved.

I remember how words like piss used to be considered profanity. In the past, any slang insult was also considered profanity, although that is no longer true today.

1. Give new meanings to swear words
2. Encourage using them more often
3. Censor swear words in books and media
4. Fine anyone/criminalize swear words in public

Bi0Hazard: Are you adding the last two options?'

Frankly swearing is a non-issue in my opinion.

Crow: The last two options won't really get rid of them, but they will make swearing more serious. So maybe, that would have the opposite effect.........

Bi0Hazard: The moment you criminalize words, they will instantly become more popular.

Any more?

Bi0Hazard: What about promoting the use of further hostility in the face of swearing? In the olden days, if you swore at somebody you would be signing up for an ass kicking. Not so much nowadays.

Crow: What you mean to say is make swearing at someone have more tangible consequences so that people are more wary about doing it.

Crow: That is like fining anyone that says a swear word in public, which you said will make it more popular.

Dassault Papillon: Nah, that was just another option. Beating someone over words is pretty petty.

That is like fining anyone that says a swear word in public, which you said will make it more popular.

It is like marijuana. Kids do it to look cool when they are alone with their friends, but the gutless wimps would never do it in front of a cop, even as a sign of protest. Being internally gutless wimps, they would piss themselves trying to buy hard drugs from a street gang as opposed to the usual drop out suburbanite.

Rebellious kids are not going to swear in public if society viewed it worthy enough for a beatdown.
